The following are examples of full-text databases containing physical and chemical properties and data on substances:
- Chapman and Hall Chemical Database
This database contains physical and chemical properties data on approximately 350,000 substances. The following data is included: molecular weight and formula; melting, freezing and boiling point; solubility; relative density; optical rotation; dissociation constants; uses, reactions and CAS Registry Numbers; derivative names, synonyms, and variant compounds. Literature citations are also included. Images of chemical structures are available for about 70% of the substances.
Corresponds to: Dictionary of Organic Compounds, Dictionary of Inorganic Compounds, Dictionary of Natural Products, and Dictionary of Analytical Reagents
The Chapman and Hall Chemical Database is available on the DIALOG Information System- HODOC
The HODOC File is a numeric file representing the nine-volume 2nd edition of the CRC Handbook of Data on Organic Compounds (HODOC II) which is a massive revision of the two-volume first edition. With over 30,000 compounds covered, the HODOC File features the most frequently used physical and chemical data of organic compounds and is an extensive source of spectral data. Physical data in this file include, when available: boiling point, melting point, density, refractive index, optical rotatory power, solubility, crystal property, color, and molecular weight calculated according to the International Atomic Weight values. Spectral data are, when available: infrared spectra, Raman spectra, ultraviolet spectra, NMR spectra, and mass spectra. Corresponds to the Handbook of data on organic compounds
HODOC is available on the STN information retrieval system.
