Data-Star, DIALOG, EINS, QUESTEL-ORBIT and STN International.
Companion file to EMA is METADEX, which covers the worldwide literature on metallurgy and materials.
The EMA database is available on the following commercial host systems: STN, EINS, DIALOG, QUESTEL-ORBIT.
More than 60% of the records contain abstracts from over 4,500 journals worldwide. CAS Registry Numbers (R) are present in the file from 1988 to the present. EMBASE contains two different types of records due to a major change in indexing policy in 1988. The records from 1988 to date may have slightly different displays and search data than those in the early portion of the file.
Linked terms (similar to MEDLINE MeSH subheadings) are only present in records from 1988 to the present. However, the entire file may be searched with the EMTREE codes (similar to MEDLINE Tree Numbers), together with a comprehensive online thesaurus.
Embase is available on a number of information retrieval services including DIALOG, and STN International.
INSPEC has world-wide coverage of the literature within physics, electrical and electronic engineering, computer and control engineering, and information technology. INSPEC contains material within the field of physical chemistry. INSPEC is a very large database with over 4 500 000 records dating from 1969 onwards. Language is English. It is available on many host systems. These include Data-Star, DIALOG, EINS, QUESTEL-ORBIT and STN International.
The Math database is available on the STN Information Service.
Over 99% of MEDLINE's citations are references to journal articles from some 4 000 journals. Approximately 50% of the citations contain abstracts, though records added before 1975 do not.
CAS Registry Numbers (R) are present in the file from 1980 to the present. About 75% of MEDLINE's citations represent publication in the English language. Online thesauri of NLM's controlled vocabulary, MeSH (Medical Subject Headings), are available as research aids.
