Databases on CD-ROM


Today many databases are available in CD-ROM form. They can be used with advantage to provide end-user access to databases, in that they allow the user to work at his/her own speed without having to worry about telecommunication connect charges or costs for host computer time. There are some disadvantages in using databases in CD-ROM form. The biggest drawback is that the databases are updated less frequently than the online base. CD-ROM databases are available in your university library.
